NORBEN Tea Estate and Tongani Tea Estate are spread over 650 Acres in the Indian State of West Bengal, Near Jalpaiguri, and Guwahati in Assam. The estate is very well managed with a large number of shade trees. The project has just been launched, with the initial site survey having been completed and the soil testing to determine the current levels of carbon being done. The next step will be to determine and implement ways to increase the soil carbon using bio char, vermicompost and other effective means to increase the soil carbon content. Steps are also being taken to introduce practices to make the entire factory process carbon neutral, eliminating the use of fossil fuels and reducing the dependency on grid power
