India is an Agrarian Economy and society, therefore still around 51 % of land is under Agriculture. Agriculture being the livelihoods of many and Soil being an important resource needs to be protected from degradation. Soil also one of the carbon sink, hence use of regenerative farming practices through this project activity ensures reduction in soil degradation and increase in soil’s potential to restore Carbon.
Through the project activity, soil capacity to sequester Carbon from the atmosphere is enhanced by means of using various techniques like- Inter-cropping, crop-rotation and use of organic fertilizers from crop residue. Such farming practices improve soil fertility. This not only leads good soil health and water holding capacity but enriches the soil both below and above the ground. Such transformation in farming practices lead to good output in terms of crop production, resilient soil and financial stability which can provide long term benefits, when consistently practiced.
